Do I have to go to the dentist every six months? Do I need x-rays at each visit?

Most people should see the dentist at least twice a year for regular hygiene visits. Other individuals are recommended to visit the dentist more frequently if they have gum disease, or a history of gum disease.

Dr. Glud and her highly trained staff will determine and notify you if x-rays are needed at your dental appointments.

What is gum disease?

Gum disease is an infection of the tissues of the gum and the deeper underlying tooth-supporting structures. Untreated gum disease can progress and cause a number of serious problems, including pain and tooth loss.

What causes tooth decay?

Causes of tooth decay may include: poor dental hygiene, improper nutrition, deep tooth grooves, sugary/acidic food and drinks, tooth grinding and age.

When should I take my child to the dentist for the first time?

The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry highly recommends parents to take their child to the dentist by age 1 or within six months after the first tooth erupts. Primary teeth typically begin growing in around the first 6 months. Please click here to obtain more information from the AAPD.

What is bruxism? How do I know that I am grinding at night?

Bruxism is the involuntary grinding of teeth when a person is asleep. Many individuals grind their teeth at night and are not aware that they are doing so. Bruxism can result in tooth decay because grinding strips away the outer layer of tooth enamel. Tooth grinding is completely preventable with the use of a night guard. We can fabricate a custom fitted night guard for a comfortable night’s rest.
