Next, we wait. Your jawbone will naturally grow around the implant post, accepting it as part of your body. After six to nine months, the implant should be solidly anchored.
At this point, another brief day-surgery will allow Dr. Glud to expose the implant head and attach an abutment onto which your restoration will be permanently secured.
What to Expect: Restoration of Implants
After osseointegration and abutment attachment, you’ll be ready for your long-lasting, natural-looking implant restorations. Dr. Glud will remove and discard your temporary crown, bridge, or denture, then cement the permanent prosthetic in place. She’ll check your occlusion, or bite, and make adjustments if necessary.
